Is Action Underrated?

Several training participants of mine ask me how can they take the first step toward success? How can they make sure they reach their goals? Well, there can be several perspectives on achieving goals. I am a great fan of taking action. Any action even if a small one in the right direction is worth a million than just sitting in one place and dreaming of success. Nothing wrong with dreaming, but fantasizing and not taking action is such a waste of time. If you have a wonderful idea, just do one small thing within two minutes that will help you move toward your goal. If you want to begin your own business and don't know where to begin, don't panic. Just take a paper and pen and write in one line what business would you like to be in. Putting your thoughts on paper helps your mind to sort out priorities. So, maybe, you are worried about financing your new venture, but the greater question is what are you going to finance? What is the core strength you have and which business suits you best? If you take action in accordance with your goals, then money, people, opportunity and many other aspects of business begin to appear in your life. It is pure magic what good action can do for your life. Call it initiative, enthusiasm, or self-belief, but the ability to take one small step in the direction of your desires is invaluable. Taking action helps you more than thinking action can ever do. Go for it today!

Attitude and Leadership

Today I won't go into major philosophies of leadership attitudes. I just want to point out something small that came to my mind today. Attitude shows in several things in life, one of them is complaining! Some of us are chronic complainers - we complain about it being too cold, too hot, too rainy, too poor, too rich - the list is endless! Great leaders QUIT COMPLAINING. They are their own weatherwoman and weatherman. They take each day as it comes and decide how they want to feel and go ahead and feel like that for the rest of the day. Yes it is summers and we all feel hot, saying it over and over and thinking about it endlessly programmes the mind to feel agitated and our body ends up feeling more uncomfortable. Take the reins of your attitude in your hands today. One of the first steps toward being a leader today is to find inner peace and stability and dictate how life will be for you rather than getting swept by weather, success, poverty or unhappiness. Find your inner joy today! Decide your life today!

Super Leadership

I am very excited as I sit down to write this blog. It just fills me up with awe what new knowledge can do to our performance. Let me introduce you to a new term, 'SUPER LEADERSHIP'. I like to define super leadership as leadership that goes beyond traditional definitions of leadership. It is a trap in today's turbulent times to stick to the age old idea of leadership and try to accomplish just that at the workplace. No wonder so many good managers/leaders find themselves failing at their good attempts at great team work. Super leadership requires 10 distinct behaviors 1) to think differently and rapidly move to action 2) create partnerships in your immediate team rather than treat them like follwers 3) exhibit unquestionable integrity 4) create business in tough times, come up with revolutionary streams of business 5) treat your department as your own business venture 6) be entrepreneurial than just an employee 7) forge unimaginable tie-ups with competitors and rivals 8) have a life of your own and personal space 9) have wisdom about not just your own area, but about your organization as a whole, and lastly 10) make every single person on your team benefit from success. Lookout for my detailed blogs on each step! Happy leading until then...and do give a thought to what I wrote here.

Personal Vision

I really hope that the thoughts on leadership are making you reflect on your personal vision of leadership and how YOU want to lead. I have discovered in life that it is great to be inspired by others in the same field as you are or a very successful professional. At the same time it isn't great to begin aping them - consciously or subconsciously. The moment you begin wanting to become just like someone else you also begin losing sight of your personal vision of how you want to lead. Your vision might begin with just two words, but it's YOURS! Originality helps you to come across as authentic rather than a clone of someone already around. Those who will look up to you I gurantee will do so for your integrity, your vision, your orginal thoughts, and your absolute focus on wanting to achieve your vision. People WANT to see an honest person with a great idea succeed. Help them help you! Remember, no matter how small you begin what will surely take you far is when your heart and mind work together to convey your personal vision. Have a visionary day today!

Who can be a Leader?

The debate can rage on whether leaders are born or made. The person who takes responsibility for their lives is a leader for me. Simple. When you muster the courage to ignore ineffective and negative environments and keep moving on...you are a leader. When you have a positive opinion about a tough situation and find ways to get out of that you have led yourself....and gained followers I guarantee! Its great to be challenged, to find ourselves in desperate situations, to experience loss and failure. These are the lucky breaks that bring out the leader in you. Size does not matter. Success is impartial. Remember one leadership success leads to another. We learn, we grow, and deepen our understanding. Work on this growth and you are a leader already. Lead yourself and the world will be your follower! To your success.

Lead yourself FIRST

It's been my burning passion this word called Leadership for a decade now! I think about it, I write about it, and feel great when I demonstrate it, too! Leadership brings humility as much as it does success. What amazes me is how small a percentage of our population believes in themselves and their ability to lead. Not lead an organization (well, that too), but first themselves. We look to everyone and everything for guidance when the best voice is within. Listen to it and you will be stronger for it. The voice within is based on principles, and not social values. So, it guides you to your true self and calling. No matter how popular a fad might be, your true strengths will sail you through. Lead yourself and followers will come running! Lead on and Win!
